Temperature Stratification
Thermistor String
MEA Thermistor String | ||
|
MEA's Thermistor Strings provide a precise way of making continuous measurement of thermal stratification in water bodies. Thermistor Strings are made to order and the sensors are built into 'strings' consisting of one or many sensors: up to 30 per String, 62 sensors total for any one Data Logger.
Where thermoclines are weak and sensors are only a few hundred millimetres apart, sensor-matching between depths is important. Thermistor Strings have inter-sensor matching equal to or better than 0.006 degrees C. Sensors use the SDI-12 protocol. Standard sensors are submersible to 50m. Sensors submersible to 90m are available on request. Download a Thermistor String brochure here.

Measurement of temperature profiles is most often accompanied by measurements of a range of other parameters, particularly solar radiation. MEA manufactures complete bouy-mounted stratification measurement systems. In addition to water temperature, systems can include sensors which measure wind speed and direction, net radiation, dissolved oxygen, redox, pH, and depth.
Data can be retrieved over mobile networks, via Modbus radio, or automatically uploaded to file servers. |
