Solar Radiation Sensors

MEA supplies a comprehensive range of solar radiation sensors.

SK01D Sensor.

SK01D Pyranometer.

The SK01D is a simple pyranometer for monitoring total solar global radiation on a plane surface. The SK01D-P version incorporates a special interference reflector to limit its sensitivity to the Photosynthetically Active Radiation region of the solar spectrum (400-700nm).

EQ08 Sensor.

EQ08 First Class Pyranometer.

The EQ08 and EQ08-E First Class Pyranometer, is a precision pyranometer for the measurement of solar irradiance on a plane surface. It exceeds the requirements for an IS09060 First Class Pyranometer. The EQ08 has a direct microvolt output, and the EQ08-E version has an in-built signal amplifier to give a millivolt output.

CN1-R Pyrradiometer.

The CN1-R Net Pyrradiometer measures the net total radiation flux (solar, terrestrial, and atmospheric) downward and upward through a horizontal surface. It is suitable for solar energy studies in agriculture and meteorology.

SPN1 Sunshine Pyranometer and BF3 Sunshine Sensor.

The SPN1 Sunshine Pyranometer from Delta T Devices is a precision instrument which measures global (total) and diffuse radiation and sunshine duration in one instrument. The SPN1 Sunshine Pyranometer is a meteorological class instrument, designed for long term outdoor exposure. It uses an array of seven miniature thermopile sensors and a computer-generated shading pattern to measure the direct and diffuse components of incident solar radiation. The SPN1 computes direct radiation by subtracting the diffuse from the global (total) radiation.

The BF3 Sunshine Sensor is a versatile, multi-purpose solar radiation sensor. It uses an array of photodiodes with a unique computer-generated shading pattern to measure incident solar radiation. A microprocessor calculates the global and diffuse components of the radiation and determines the sunshine state.

The SPN1 is a precision version of the BF3 Sunshine Sensor and although the two instruments have some features in common, there are important differences. These are summarised in this document.

Sunshine Sensor type BF3.

The BF3 Sunshine Sensor measures global, direct and diffuse solar radiation simultaneously, as well as sunshine duration. An array of photodiodes and a computer generated shading pattern mean that some sensors are always in full sunlight while others are always in shadow as the sun traces its arc across the sky.
