Soil Moisture Monitoring Accessories

Product

Description

Use with

GDot Switch Box

The GDot Switch Box allows you to view soil moisture from up to 4 sensors using just one GDot display unit. The sensors can be buried at different depths throughout the soil profile or at the same depth throughout your field (up to 100m apart). Turning the dial on the Switch Box cycles through the sensors and the GDot displays the soil moisture tension.

Retriever

The Retriever collects the data from MEA's Bug range of continuous soil moisture loggers. It can store data from multiple loggers and as it is not Bug specific, it can be used to retrieve the readings from any combination of Bugs. The data is quickly and easily transferred to the Retriever, which can then be used to view readings in-field, as well as storing all measurements for later download to a PC for analysis with BUG software.

PR2 Profile Probe Access tubes

The portability of the Profile Probe comes from its use with access tubes. These strong and durable tubes remain buried in the ground in the field so that your expensive sensor does not have to. The access tubes are easily installed with an auger ensuring minimal soil disturbance and excellent contact of the tube (and hence sensor) with the surrounding soil.

PR2 Profile Probe

Augers

MEA stocks both 25mm and 40mm augers for the installation of Gypsum Block and ThetaProbe sensors.

We also have specialist augering kits for the installation of the PR Profile Probe Access tubes and tensiometers.

Bentonite (2kg)

A Bentonite/sand slurry is used to backfill the holes augered during the installation of gypsum block or ThetaProbe sensors. The Bentonite swells creating a 'plug' to prevent moisture preferentially running down the cable and onto the sensor. A 2kg pack of Bentonite is sufficient to install about 15 sensors.

Silica Flour (2kg)

Silica Flour can be used to coat GBLites before installation to improve sensor contact with the soil.
