Soil Moisture Tension Sensors

Automatic Weather Station

Wind Sensors

Wind is the natural consequence of atmospheric motions arising from many sources; from large scale circulations of air around atmospheric pressure cells, to local winds such as sea-breezes that arise because of differential heating between land and water. Wind speed is measured with a three-cup anemometer and wind direction by a wind vane, both mechanical devices. An alternative to the cup and vane wind set is the ultrasonic wind speed and direction sensor which has no moving parts and is therefore almost maintenance free.

Temperature and Humidity

The HMP45A is an air temperature and relative humidity sensor. Each probe is delivered from the factory with a calibration certificate with a traceability to international standards.

MEA2173 Thermistor String

MEA Products

MEA's Standard Products are designed to meet the needs of irrigated agriculture and are available through a network of Resellers across the country.

Magpie introduction

A versatile Windows Software package that makes the collection of data simple! ...and the display and analysis of your Environmental Data better and easier!

Magpie 2 upgrade

Magpie software was first released in 1997 and has been upgraded to Magpie 2. Magpie 2 is a significant step up from Magpie 1 however existing Magpie users will upgrade comfortably to Magpie 2 without needing to re-learn how to use the software.

Delta-T Scan System

Delta-T Scan measures root length and root surface area, and counts root tips. It can also produce root length versus diameter distributions.

Handheld Readers

Soil Moisture Content Sensors

Root Washer type RWB

The root washer helps to automate the preparation of roots for measurement. The system uses mains water pressure to separate the roots from the soil.

WinDIAS Image Analysis System

WinDIAS provides high speed measurement and analysis of leaf area and leaf features, making it the ideal tool for plant pathology applications.

SunScan canopy analysis system

SunScan uses field measurements of PAR in crop canopies to provide valuable information about LAI and biomass production. Vast areas can be sampled quickly.

HemiView System

HemiView is a Windows-based program used for image analysis of hemispherical photographs, particularly of plant canopies, including tall, irregular canopies, such as forests.

Data logger Starlogger

The Starlogger is the first in a family of data loggers designed to meet exacting requirements by offering an expanded signal capacity and range and powerful programmability.

AP4 Porometer

The AP4 Porometer measures stomatal aperture in terms of leaf conductance to water vapour. This is a major determinant of water loss from plant leaves and of CO2 uptake in photosynthesis.

XR420CT

The XR420CT is a marine conductivity and depth recorder.

Starflow Ultrasonic Doppler Instrument

The Ultrasonic Doppler Instrument is a compact, easy to use system for measuring the velocity and depth of water in rivers and streams, open drainage channels and large pipes.

Net Radiometer (Delta T)

The NR2 is a WMO First Class category net pyrradiometer.

UV Sensors (Delta T)

A range of cosine corrected, high stability light sensors, featuring self-cleaning, stay-dry diffusers with water drainage slots.

Unidata products

In May 2005, MEA was appointed Exclusive Distributor for Unidata products in all Australian regions with the exception of Western Australia.

Product list

MEA's Water Products are designed to measure water flows and quality. The product range includes pressure and depth sensors, water quality sensors, volumetric flow measurements in streams and pipes, marine applications instruments, and evaporation systems.

Other Sensors

Water Level Instrument shaft encoder

Float-operated instruments can be the most accurate way to monitor the level of a water surface. The 6541 Precision Water Level instrument can achieve an operating accuracy and resolution of 0.2mm.

Pressure Sensor

The 6542 Digital Water Depth and Temperature Probe (WD&TP) provides accurate long term measurements of water depth and temperature from 0 to 60°C.

Water conductivity instrument

The 6536C Four Electrode Conductivity device is a complete measurement system suitable for field installation.

Leaf Wetness Sensor

A leaf wetness sensor or artificial leaf is used to record the presence of moisture in a crop canopy.

Rainfall

Rainfall is normally measured with a tipping bucket rain gauge although ultrasonic sensors are also available.

Weather Station Masts

Masts from ten to 60 metres are available for the MEA Automatic Weather Station range. Masts are manufactured from 165mm x 3mm hot dip galvanised tube, in 3 metre long sections. These are guyed in four directions at up to 6 levels for the 60 metre tower, (fewer levels for shorter towers) using stainless steel guy wires (5mm high tensile galvanised wires as an option).

Barometric Pressure

Barometric pressure is a measure of the weight of the atmosphere over a particular site. It is measured in hectoPascals (hPa), (or millibars (mB) which are exactly the same thing). Barometric pressure normally varies over a range between 990hPa and 1030hPa.

Class A Evaporation Pan

Soil Moisture Products

The MEA range of soil moisture measurement products has a solution for every possible application.

Weather Station Products

MEA has supplied Automatic Weather Stations (AWS) to farmers, researchers, mining companies and other land users, in Australia and internationally, since 1984.

Water Products

MEA carries a range of instruments which measure water quality, water flows, and water temperature (particularly temperature stratification). These products are available from MEA direct.

Data Logging Products

MEA supplies a wide range of data loggers and data logging products.

Plant Science Products

MEA is the Australian distributor for the range of plant science products manufactured by Delta T Devices of UK.

Sensor Field Station

If you need 17 analog measurement channels, Murphy's Law states that your data logger will only have 16. And sometimes you will need more channels than any known data logger can handle, maybe 256 or more? Or perhaps you need differential inputs or more signal resolution or a mix of voltage, current, resistance, counter and state channels. What to do?

Data logger Prologger

The Prologger data logger is a larger capacity data logger.
