This page outlines our Automatic Weather Stations and Class A Evaporation pans.
If you're in the wind or solar prospecting game, you need to head to the RENEWABLE ENERGY PAGE.
Automatic Weather Stations
Understanding and recording your local microclimate is crucial in both the Agricultural and Mining Sectors. Weather data is key for everything from effective spray drift management, ETo estimation, calculating heat load indexes and providing frost warnings to dust mitigation, EPA compliance, worker comfort and knowing rainfall.

If you are looking for a quality weather station which is low maintenance, autonomous and can be absolutely relied upon in the harsh Australian climate, then you should consider an MEA's Automatic Weather Stations.
We’ve been in this business since 1984 and the end result of years of refinement is a sophisticated blend of mechanical, electronic, measurement, recording and telemetry systems that gives you the data you want, when you need it.There are two weather station models in the MEA range – The Standard and Junior.
Standard automatic weather station
The Standard AWS is a free standing weather station totally customised to your needs with the widest selection of the best quality sensors. This AWS is our most popular station and is used in our networked systems which you can see on the Free Weather Data section of our website. That’s our Standard AWS in the picture.
Junior automatic weather station
The Junior AWS has a fixed sensor combination – air temperature, humidity, rainfall, solar radiation, wind speed and direction mounted on an inground mast with data delivered over a modem. The cost of this system is $6,600 including GST.
Both MEA Automatic Weather Stations can be used as part of soil moisture measurement systems.

Evaporation Pan

A Class A Evaporation pan gives you a 'real' evaporation measurement, rather than one calculated from a mathematical model. The evaporation pan measurement is directly influenced by the actual prevailing temperature, humidity, sunshine and wind conditions on your property. Add in the pan coefficient and your crop factor to get your ETo and you’ll know exactly how much water your crop needs.
MEA have a range of Class A Evaporation pans to suit your needs and budget. The manual pans let you get involved in the measuring and topping up or perhaps you’d prefer to sit back and let your Automatic Pan measure and refill itself?
You even get to chose how you want to retrieve the data - download on-site, dial in from your desktop or grab it from the web.
To maintain accuracy and to reduce maintenance, your Class A evaporation pan will be fitted with a bird and leaf guard.
